Desktop Managed Services - Setup and Support

As a qualified IBM Business Partner, we will talk you through the setup of IBM Express Desktop Management Services. We'll provide you with initial documentation and then arrange a telephone conference to guide your representative through the installation process and train him or her on using the services' administrative control center. The installation involves deploying a software agent to all your Windows® platform-based assets, setting your preferences and notifications, and then testing the solution.

Your responsibilities during the setup process include:

  • You lead the deployment of the service software to all your assets covered by the service. The service software is the code that enables the features of service. If you choose the managed services option, we or IBM will lead the effort to deploy the service software.
  • You must understand and provide us with information about your existing PC environment. This information may include network capacity, firewall configurations, proxy server usage and existing anti-virus applications installed.
  • You decide on your service policies for patch management, online backup and anti-virus capabilities — examples of such decisions include when to deploy patches, what files to back up and when to scan for viruses.
