IBM Express Online Backup for Distributed Servers An easy, economical way to protect your valuable business data Setup and support If a disaster occurs, IBM is here to help you. You need to be prepared for disasters, but both our goals is to reduce the amount of time you spend worrying about data backups. They designed Express Online Backup for distributed servers so that it can be set up and modified quickly — so you can focus on what’s important in your business. Setting up your service After signing up for your service, you will receive an e-mail with a user ID and password. When you log in for the first time, you will be asked to provide emergency contact information. You then can download the software to your server using a simple installation file. After installing the software and rebooting your server, you can log in to the management portal and configure your backups. If you have any questions during installation, you may call the IBM Help Desk. That number is supplied to you once you have signed the IBM Express Online Backup for distributed servers contract. The IBM Help Desk is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. EST. Proactive expert management If you rely on a manual process for data protection, you may not know there's a problem until it's too late. With Express Online Backup for distributed servers, you get the benefit of a specialized system and staff. The service operation center (SOC) is designed to automatically detect problems during backup or recovery and notify you promptly. IBM technical infrastructure Managed at the IBM Online Backup service operation center, the Express Online Backup Web portal creates a vault that is protected by password protection, digital certificate and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) technology. The service operation center maintains multiple connections to the Internet backbone to help reduce the risks posed by physical disruptions to the Internet. Your role in backup management After setup, you don't have to be an IT expert to manage Express Online Backup for distributed services. From any Web browser, you can access the Web management portal to manage and monitor backup and restore operations for your critical data. You can quickly configure which servers, folders or files you want to back up and whether or not you want them backed up all day or nightly. You can even set the amount of bandwidth that you want to dedicate to backup operations. When you restore current or historic files, you can restore them to their original location or designate a different server. Or you can have restored information shipped on a network attached storage (NAS) device to your location. The Web portal also allows you to set up and manage system.
